On March 31, 2022, on behalf of the Council of the Village of Alma, the Clerk sent a letter to Minister Daniel Allain, along with a petition presented to the Village Office by Alma residents and taxpayers.

Please see below, the response received to the letter and petition on May 6, 2022, from Minister Daniel Allain:

“Ms. Downey:

Thank you for your email of March 31, 2022, in which you shared a letter on behalf of council and a petition in support of council’s endeavour to split Entity 42. I also appreciated the opportunity to meet with you and members of council.

After consideration of all the input received, I am confirming that we are moving forward with our reform efforts as outlined on the Local Governance Reform website (www.gnb.ca/vibrantNB). We continue to believe that this is the best option for the long-term sustainability of the region and the province.

We look forward to the work ahead by the transition facilitator and local representatives to establish a positive path forward. The outcome will be stronger and sustainable communities and an enhanced quality of life for all New Brunswickers.

Sincerely,

(Original signed)

Daniel Allain

Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform”
